Potrivit unui top realizat pe Internet cu ajutorul a circa 2.000 de iubitori de muzica, Sting are cel mai prost inteles vers din istoria muzicii, el aparand de doua ori in acest top cu piesele: When The World is Running Down si Message in the Bottle. 
 
Versul din piesa Message in the Bottle suna asa: "A year has passed since I wrote my note" (a trecut un an de cand am scris acest vers) insa, dintr-un motiv ciudat, fanii il interpreteaza astfel: "A year has passed since I broke my nose" (a trecut un an de cand mi-am rupt nasul).

Sting a reusit sa-i surclaseze pe Beatles, Bee Gees, Queen si David Bowie in acest top. In cazul legendarilor The Beatles, fanii inteleg de asemenea pe dos anumite versuri.

Este cazul pieselor "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" si "Michelle". In primul cantec, versul "the girl with kaleidoscope eyes" este inteles astfel: "the girl with colitis goes by" (o fata care are colita trece prin preajma).

Pozitia a doua a acestui top este ocupata de Bee Gees, cu piesa "Stayin’ Alive". Versul "It's all right, it's okay, you may look the other way" este inteles ca "it's all right, it's okay, you may love the other way".

Potrivit reprezentantilor Amplifon, o companie care vinde aparate auditive, care a realizat acest top, majoritatea problemelor de interpretare a acestor versuri sunt generate de problemele auditive ale fanilor. "Rezultatele acestui studiu nu arata doar problemele de dictie ale artistilor, ci si faptul ca doar in

Marea Britanie, exista circa 9 milioane de oameni care au probleme auditive".
 
Revenind la "castigatorul" acestui top, anul trecut, Sting a fost votat drept cel mai prost textier din istoria muzicii, intr-un top realizat de o revista americana.
